4 To help your child stop wandering from his studying, beginning with the subject that your child finds the least interesting or the most difficult subject will help your child put the most effort into tackling the most challenging task first.

            Just like cleaning a house.. it can help starting with the most labor intensive projects first and working your way down to the easiest things.

5. It helps to break study periods into different parts. Just like radio waves, brain waves need space between different types of input. So, if you child is working on math for an hour, follow that subject up with English or writing rather than chemistry. Having time between similar subjects.  The closer the subjects, the more interference that he/she will have understands the subject.

6. Having a good amount of energy is important during study times.  Research shows that there are times of the day when people become sleepy despite our best efforts. Rather than warning you kid not to take a nap during study time. This rarely is effective. Its best to suggest that he/she  go out for a physical activity such as playing basketball or running around. This will get their blood flowing to the brain. If there is not time it is also effective to take a 10-minute break to stretch or play quick game to get blood flowing.

7.  The most vital strategy is to teach your kid how  to study according to the type of course that is taken.  If it's a lecture course, studying is most effective if it’s done soon after class.  The best way:  by reviewing, revising and organizing class and reading notes.

If the course is has a large presentation component and requires her to recite  answers to questions, studying before class will be an effective way to insure memorization and clearing up facts.  You can actively engage with  your student by acting as the teacher and asking and listening to questions, even if you haven't read the material. Its great to have your child mentally retried the information they need.

           It's important to for children to develop effective study habits to ensure that they get good grades in school. Many educators know great methods that work well to help students study, but few schools teach students the best ways to study.

            Research has shown that it doesn’t matter how much time spent studying that matters but what methods are used during study. In one survey, students who studied more than 35 hours a week had poorer grades than those who studied less. Those who spent less hours knew how to study smarter.         

            There are many ways to study better, but we’ll go seven easy ways to help your child study better . No matter your child’s age these seven tips will him/her get the most out of studying. These are tips from Study Smarts from the University of Wisconsin Press) These study tips have helped over 90, 000 students of all ages and around the world improve their study habits

            1.  Changing a child’s habits is the best old-fashion way of modifying a child’s behavior. For this to work ask your child to study the same subject at the same location  and same time each day.  After setting up the habit of doing the same thing it become automatic that the student will be able get right down into the subject.

As the brain becomes trained to think about Algebra or Spanish at the same place and time on cue, it does not take longer than a few minutes a day to get into a rhythm and mood to get into the deeper concepts of the subject.  These time savings will begin to add up as your child no longer needs to but in the emotional effort to get excited about a particular subject. He/she will begin to make faster associations with ideas within the subject and learn much faster.

2. Just like in working-out, where you have to work on different muscles so that your body does not get use to a particular rhythm. Your mind works the same way. Your child needs to constantly be challenged. Allow your child study no more than one hour or any particular subject. Rotate subjects every 20-30 minutes.

When you give your child a time allotment he will use that time much more efficiently – studying the more important concepts ideas will allow your child to focus on the most challenging portions of the subject. (I’m sure your were surprised how much you managed to learn 24 hours before the next big exam.) The psychology of cramming works great during studying even if its not urgent to learn.

Also, a person learns best in short burst of studying. Studies show that children learn as much in a five one-hour sessions distributed over five days as in one marathon eight-hour session. That’s because taking breaking breaks between a subjects allows the student to build up long-term memory and their subconscious begins the work of absorbing what was learned. Counting as study time too!.

3. Taking frequent breaks are always great and they help you learn! Let your child go play some games or eat a snack for a little bit. Many experts say ten-minute breaks work ten-minute breaks between subjects keep a child alert and his mind in top shape.

According to Dr. Walter Pauk, who was director of the Reading and Study Center at Cornell University for many years, instructs his students to take a short break whenever they feel they need one, instead of a set time intervals, This way they don't end up constantly watching the clock. Give your kid helpful break they’ll do more good than you’ll think.
